Double-stitching produces sturdy footwear

Shoes that are meant to be worn in extremely adverse conditions are made using the double-stitching production method. This method makes shoes remarkably robust and waterproof, in addition to lending them a sturdy look.

Double-Stitching

This shoe production method is primarily used to make very sturdy shoes. Hiking shoes in particular are a prime example of double-stitched shoes. Double-stitching involves welting onto the insole from the side instead of from below. As a result, the welt stitch isn’t located on the insole inside of the shoe, but rather on the outside of the shoe, on the wide welting by the double seam. This method therefore gets its name from the fact that the shaft and the bottom of the shoe are connected by two visible seams. Double-stitched shoes are significantly sturdier and more waterproof than Goodyear-welted men’s shoes.
