N° 158 details

No. 158 is a dark brown women’s brogue, Goodyear-welted and handcrafted. The velours used to make this classic women’s lace-up shoe, along with intricate broguing, create a rather casual look. On the other hand, this brogue’s closed lacing and clean lines hearken back to traditional, centuries-old design.

A classic women’s low-rise shoe made of velours – dark brown women’s brogue

No. 158 is steeped in the tradition of the world’s most elegant men’s shoe—namely, the oxford. This special type of shoe is known for its closed lacing, created by sewing the shoe quarters beneath the shaft. Unlike a classic smooth leather shoe, the shaft of our dark brown women’s brogue is made entirely of buffed rough leather. This leather, known as velours, has been napped on its flesh side, resulting in a soft and velvety texture.

This dark brown women’s brogue is a high-quality full-leather shoe; the lining and insole are made of vegetable-tanned cowhide. These shoes also feature the best leather soles in the world (the famous Rendenbach sole), as well as Rendenbach heels. Additionally, No. 158 is assembled using the Goodyear welting production method, which guarantees a comfortable footbed as well as high durability and breathability. The low heel creates a harmonious visual effect and allows for long stretches of comfortable wear. Moreover, cork filler placed between the in- and outsole offers protection from the cold and provides a distinct footbed.

Women’s brogue – an extraordinary look that doesn’t require a lot of care

This sophisticated velours women’s shoe does not require a high level of care to maintain its appearance. So long as No. 158 is only worn during dry weather, all the wearer needs to do is regularly brush away small stains from the upper. Should the wearer be caught in heavy rainfall, special velours treatment should be applied.

This dark brown women’s brogue pairs wonderfully with casual business attire. That being said, No. 158 is primarily intended for combination with leisurewear. The combination of its classic design, masculine heritage and feminine last make this brogue a strong alternative to its high-heeled counterparts.

Elegant Last

Elegant Last

Gently rounded towards the toe, with a toe box that rises slightly from the ground. This last lies close to the foot at the instep, and is of an average width at the middle. Significantly narrower than the classic last, the elegant last is recommended for average and low insteps.

Velours

Velours

Processed velours is an extremely fine, fully-dyed type of rough leather that is taken from the flesh side of the hide. Velours is extremely soft and resistant to soiling. It is easy to care for; regular brushing with a suede brush suffices to keep your velours shoes in good shape.

Rendenbach Sole

Rendenbach Sole

For the past 140 years, Rendenbach has used oak bark tanning to produce leather soles—the process can take up to nine months. These soles are renowned for their extreme durability and natural water repellency. Women’s shoes with Rendenbach soles are a real novelty.

General information about our women's shoe collection

Goodyear-Welted

Goodyear-Welted

The gold standard when it comes to shoe manufacturing. Goodyear welting is a painstaking process that involves stitching the shaft and outsole to a thin strip of leather. Shoes made this way are extremely stable, durable, breathable, and easy to repair.

Handcrafted

Handcrafted

Mass-produced shoes are glued together on assembly lines. All of our premium, full-leather shoes, on the other hand, are handcrafted to the finest standards of quality. You can see and feel the difference.

Full-Leather Shoes

Full-Leather Shoes

The high quality of these shoes is reflected in their high leather content. Their uppers, lining, insoles, and outsoles are made from the finest leather. They even have leather heels, made by painstakingly stacking thin layers of leather on top of one another.

Gentleman's Corner

Gentleman's Corner

These shoes come equipped with a so-called "gentleman's corner". This is a small notch cut from the inside corner of the heel. This has a practical purpose—it prevents your trouser leg from catching on your shoe.

Breathable

Breathable

This shoe boasts a high proportion of leather, and has been assembled without the use of adhesive bonding—both of these factors ensure proper air circulation and prevent moisture from penetrating the surface. Dry, well-ventilated feet are healthy feet.

SHOEPASSION - ONE STEP FURTHER

Made in EU

While most of our peers in the shoe industry are still unable to guarantee shoes that are »made in the EU«, we’re able to prove that our shoes are just that. We use leather from France and Germany, manufacture our shoes in Spain, and run distribution and logistics in Germany—our shoes are 100% made in Europe.

Environmentally sustainable

For many companies, all that matters are the profits; they fail to take notice of the disastrous conditions under which hides are taken in Bangladesh, or shoes are manufactured in China. We turn instead to traditional European tanneries and Spanish craftsmanship, to the benefit of man and nature alike.

Pricing

Our promise: since you’re purchasing directly from the manufacturer, you’re spared the typical high margins. You’re also spared the additional cost of paying for a brand name. Thanks to our advantageous wide reach and our low cost structure, we’re able to offer sensationally low prices.

Transparency

From the provenance and treatment of the leather we use, to the conditions in our Spanish factory, to delivery with our logistics partner, we don’t leave any stone unturned. We provide copious, transparent information on every step in our supply chain.

Our team

SHOEPASSION.com was founded by a pair of shoe lovers, and each and every employee focuses on satisfying our shoe-loving customers. Whether it’s graphic design, sales, marketing, editorial, or customer service, we handle all aspects of our business internally, ensuring our total control over all processes. We’re also owner-managed.

Your feedback

Your opinion is important to us; that’s how we define our business. If you’d like to express your satisfaction with our products and services, let us know. You can read reviews from other customers as well as experts in the shoe industry on the SHOEPASSION.com site. Your satisfaction is our top priority!

The values we live by

Lots of brands are quick to conceal the production methods behind their products, as well as the origins of the materials they use. We, on the other hand, have nothing to hide. From the very beginning, our products have been »Made in the EU«, in the classic sense. As such, we treat both our fellow man and the natural environment in a way that’s ecologically sustainable and ethically responsible. Each step on our supply chain is entirely transparent for you to see—that’s a promise we’re happy to stand by.
