Zederna Insoles for Healthy Feet
The German company Zederna offers handcrafted insoles made of aromatic cedar wood. Thanks to the antibacterial effect and high absorbency of cedar wood, the Zederna insoles support the natural balance of the skin and guarantee a pleasant foot and shoe climate.
Cedar Wood Insoles for a Natural Shoe Climate
The German family business relies on traditional craftsmanship from the Sauerland region and the special properties of cedar wood for their insoles. The aromatic natural wood is known for its high absorbency and has also developed natural defense mechanisms against fungi and microorganisms over centuries. These antibacterial and odor-inhibiting effects of the cedar wood insoles ensure a healthy shoe climate.
The visit to a traditional market for handicrafts sparked the initial idea at Zederna. Among the displayed ceramics, jewelry, and leather goods, an exceptional woodwork caught the founders' attention - a pair of cedar wood insoles. The creator, an experienced carpenter from Germany, had used the distinctive natural wood as material for the shoe inserts and carefully prepared them by hand. The aromatic scent combined with the craftsman's enthusiastic story prompted the future founder to conduct a self-test: he wore the cedar insoles during the hot summer months, not in airy summer shoes or classic lace-ups, but in his boots of all things.
A true endurance test, one might think, but the success of the unusual shoe inserts did not take long to show. Despite the challenging conditions, the feet remained dry in the boots and the supposed unpleasant foot odor did not occur. On the contrary: the aromatic scent of cedar wood provided a welcome freshness even after extended wear. The interest of the founders was now fully ignited. An intensive testing phase confirmed: cedar wood not only absorbs moisture to a high degree, but also has odor-inhibiting and antibacterial effects against foot and nail fungus. The foundation for the now ten-year history of Zederna was laid.
The Power of Nature - Zederna Insoles
For over a decade, the German family business has been offering handcrafted insoles made of untreated cedar wood. The Zederna insoles absorb the moisture released through the skin in the shoe and keep the feet pleasantly dry. This prevents the formation of a hygienically highly questionable, moist and warm shoe climate and suffocates the development of foot and nail fungus at its source.
The Zederna natural soles are based on a two-layer construction. While the front is made of sanded cedar wood and is free of any chemicals, the back is characterized by a thin layer of cotton. This stabilizes the foot in the shoe and increases comfort. Thanks to their thin design, the insoles do not add bulk to the shoe and can also be used in combination with orthopedic inserts.
As an addition to the original cedar wood sole, Zederna now offers an upgrade in their product range: The Silver Care model features additional silver ions in the bottom cotton layer, which relieve the cedar wood and contribute to its regeneration. The unique combination of aromatic cedar wood and bioactive silver ions enhances the effectiveness of Zederna soles and also increases their durability. Zederna's mission: naturally healthy feet without chemicals.
